Resetting your iPhone for sale: 4 steps
Follow the 4 steps below to reset your iPhone for sale.
- Back up your data
Make sure you don’t lose any important data when resetting your iPhone. Always create a backup beforehand using iCloud or iTunes.
- Using iCloud: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.
- Using iTunes: Connect your iPhone to a computer, open iTunes, select your iPhone, and click “Back Up Now”.
- Sign out of iCloud:
On your iPhone, go to “Settings” and tap your name at the top of the screen. Then scroll down and tap “Sign Out”. Enter your Apple ID password and tap “Turn Off”. - Turn off “Find My iPhone”:
Before resetting your iPhone to factory settings, it’s important to disable the “Find My iPhone” feature. Here’s how: Go to Settings > [your name] > Find My > Find My iPhone and turn it off. - Erase iPhone / Restore to factory settings
Once all preparations are complete, you can erase your iPhone and restore it to factory settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. You may be asked to enter your passcode and Apple ID password to confirm.
